The Other Side
You’re part of the way there by now
Half of you is with me
In my arms
Where I don’t want to let you go
And half of you is already gone
Off to a better place
Somewhere more beautiful than this world
A place where you can blossom into all you truly are
And become what you didn’t have time to be while you were here
Take my hand and squeeze it gently
Let me know you hear me
And then let me go
To join you when my time comes
I’ll see you on the other side.
[Edit: I tried to do something neat with the structure of the poem. I grouped the lines like this…
9 lines in stanza 1, 4 lines in stanza 2, 1 line in stanza 3
Or, 3 squared, 2 squared, 1 squared.
3…2…1.
It’s a countdown for the last moments of a person’s life.]
Janine Russell
Hey all! Janine here.
This blog is to help me understand what is going on in my life, because I find that until I share my experiences it is hard to make sense of them and what they mean to the bigger picture. When there's nowhere else to turn, your typewriter is there to listen without judgment, and just let you bleed.
Welcome to the inside of my head.
